So I've got this horrible blank space down the middle of my apartment, aka the hallway. What I really wanted was to have a couple of large canvases made, but that was just not in the budget. So my next thought was to just blow up some prints to 11x14". Then my VistaPrint loving mind came up with an idea. VP offers posters at about 11x17". So I created six posters that I could crop 3" off the top and/or bottom.
I had a coupon with free posters, uploads, and 25% off shipping. So each poster cost me $3.31. Here was my temporary layout, while I was trying to find reasonably priced frames.
What's the point of getting a good deal on the prints if I was going to spend a fortune on six frames? So I sat on the prints for a month or two. I finally happened across two 4packs of 11x14" frames, on clearance for $14.99 each (BB&B). Got it!! But they were kind of an icky flat "espresso" brown. So I sanded them.
I used a coppery/bronze paint I had on hand. Three coats, and two coats of glossy finish. I used Command strips to hold them up. If you follow the directions they work quite well.
We moved into a new apartment in January, and two months later, I finally got these bad boys up!
